For months, several of us had been planning on going to the Jazzercise convention in Palm Springs. It was a four hour drive with three of us in a car--a definite girl's weekend road trip! We got there in time to have lunch and settle in before hitting the first class at 5:00 pm. We learned a complex series of dance steps that instructor Cathy jotted down as soon as she could. We practiced in our hotel room in our jammies that night and wrote out the steps for the others girls from our group to learn. When we got back home, we performed it for the Tuesday night class. We felt just a little silly, but it was still tons of fun.
Saturday was filled with classes--we did 4 out of the 6 offered that day (this pic was taken mid-day, hence the disheveled look!). The "back to the 80's" class was my favorite, of course. There were an estimated 500 people or so in the big ballroom of the resort for most of the classes. We went early to stake out "our spot" about 6 rows back in the middle. There were 6 of us from the Tuesday/Thursday night classes that were all there, with our instructor. Being the silly girls that we are, we all bought this matching pink top and all wore them on Saturday. Others were calling us the "pink ladies". Shopping was definitely one of the highlights of the trip!
Sunday morning was a taping, which was an experience. 28 new routines, shot one right after the other. We kept up for the first hour or so, but then started to fade. My knee was screaming still from my rock wall incident, so I sat out the last half. We had just enough time to shower and check out of the resort before heading home. Fortunately, our driver Kathy was totally dependable, so Cathy and I took turns nodding off on the way home.
Fabulous trip, wonderful experience. I would do it again in a heartbeat. Sure, there were rude people in class that tried to run us over, but just being in the midst of such a huge group doing the same thing that I love was exhilarating. And the camaraderie was outstanding. You girls are the best!
