We're huge fans of Alton Brown, so when he did a show on power bars, hubby was eager to try them. We each eat a protein bar almost every day. Balance Bars are our favorites, but at $1 and 200 calories each, a homemade alternative is a welcome change. We can buy all of the ingredient at Sprouts, a local organic/produce store, most items are sold in bulk, so you only buy what you need. We figure they're about $0.50 per bar. Tastes sort of like a cookie. Definitely has staying power!
Basic ingredients are peanut butter and dried fruit with the kick coming from tofu, soy protein powder, and wheat germ.
