I have always had a tradition of baking and decorating Christmas cookies. It started when I was a kid, spending the summers with my brother on our grandparent's farm in Missouri. One of the highlights of the summer was when grandma would break out the Christmas cookies. We'd get out all of the cookie cutters, make up every color of frosting, and decorate snowmen, santas, and trees. We'd take them to church or to the neighbors. It was quite comical in July! Grandma has since passed away, and I cherish her rolling pin and cookie cutters. I look for an opportunity every year to bake. Hubby now works at a dinner theater, so there are lots of "kids" that are away from home and families. They are huge fans of my cookies! The rule in my house now is that they must not be in the house by morning. Hubby will often put the plate in his car so that I don't wake up to them. He's the best!
