The Dance Class

Mission accomplished!! Yesterday afternoon, two girlfriends and I attended a three hour workshop entitled "The Art of Exotic Dancing for the Everyday Woman"! Come to find out, it's a franchise and available all over the country: The Art of Exotic Dancing for the Everyday Woman. They also have DVD's and books available as well. I highly recommend the live class, however!

What a fabulous experience. Truly amazing women... 9 of us all together... all with different stories and reasons for being there. The class is all about confidence in yourself and exerting your own power as a woman. The hardest exercises were at the beginning... eye contact with a stranger. Having someone else walk up to your face and stand there a moment and then walk away. Very hard to keep a straight face! Then we had to walk up to the mirror and keep eye contact with ourselves. That was surprisingly hard! Hard to get into what you were supposed to be doing and not think "my hair's messed up", "my makeup is smudged", "where did all those wrinkles come from", "I really need to touch up my roots!" After awhile of the music pumping and the confidence of having a few steps down, it got much easier. By the end, everyone was in their own little worlds thoroughly enjoying the process.

Did I mention it was a WORKOUT!? Three hours of continually adding segments onto a dance. Walking, hip rolls, squatting hip rolls, more hip rolls against the wall, sliding down the wall, crawling across the floor, leg lifts and more hip rolls on the floor, standing back up, and walking away. About 5 minutes for the whole song, but we did it for three hours! I also did it in 5" heels!! The shoes were optional, but after having gone to so much effort to get them, I wasn't about to take them off!! I would LIVE in those shoes if I could. But, they are really just a symbol of the attitude and the poise, so I just have to remember to live in the mindset of the shoes.

I still plan to post pictures as well, as soon as they are available!
